I Say WIP It/WIP It Good

This is going to be the abbreviated version of my typical Work-In-Progress Wednesday post.

Last night was pretty lousy:  Contini had a nightmare.  Once he finally settled down enough to talk and could reply to us, he told us that apparently I'd "put something away."  That'll teach me to go into my son's dreams and clean anything up!  (Just call me Mommy Krueger.)  Unfortunately, the lousy night has followed us into a lousy morning, leaving me little opportunity for a halfway decent post today.
(As always, click either photo for its larger version.)

I am officially only three inches away from getting to bind off the back panel of the cover-up I'm working on!  This project is fairly straight-forward, just physically larger than anything I've really ever done before.  It's been slow-going and in that regard, quite frustrating.  Thankfully I have a few "instant-gratification" style projects to relieve that frustration.

And off to the right, a snuggly close-up preview of what's coming on Friday.  You may be able to guess what it is.  Even if you do, you may not expect quite what I did.  (I'm working on making a very short video reveal for this particular FO.  I have to see how that's going to work out.)

So my question to everyone out there this week:  What is impeding you on your WIP?

This week travel plans impeded project goals. What I want to do was constantly in my thoughts but the thoughts never made it to my hands. I'm hoping to jump in the saddle tonight though once I get to VA.

I can't wait for your video fo presentation. I'm pulling up a chair in the front row.

I am doing a shawl that is a Mystery KAL. But I didn't like the 2nd clue, so I thought to sub in a different lace pattern. Only, I am coming up empty with everything I try! So I have just stuck to the Citron that is in progress, but it doesn't look much different than last week!

@Nicky: I notice that I tend to have big problems with my progress (even during the week) if I've been away for even part of the previous weekend. Last weekend it was the renaissance faire and the whole ride up I kept thinking if I'd let hubby drive, I could have been making progress on that stupid cover-up. Maybe next weekend. Best of luck working on your projects once you get to VA. :) (And thank you for your enthusiasm for Friday's presentation. I hope it doesn't disappoint!)

@Venividivoom: I aim to make the next video post on my blog much more uplifting than my last. :\

@DeVanity_Creations: Thank you for your enthusiasm for Friday! :) I hope I don't disappoint!

@Chrisknits: See, that is why I'm totally chicken when it comes to mystery anything-a-longs. I take so long on my projects that I don't want to chance not liking the end result. . . Someday I know I will do it, but I just don't feel like I'm quite *there* yet. I hope your project turns out better than you're anticipating and may its pace pick up for you. :)

Love the blue varigated, what are you making? Hope the night mares/dreams improve.

@Sandy: Thank you so much! I'm making a mesh cover-up (the project page is here: http://www.ravelry.com/projects/duckfiend/22-knit-mesh-cover-up with a link to the pattern) with some leftover baby yarn. I'm working hard on stash-busting! :)
And thank you, we hope the nightmares go away, too. It'd be nice, at least, if I weren't the villain in them!

Video--get you! Sounds pretty cool!

Yeah, those moms putting stuff away in our dreams needs to stop! This is why I never put anything away. EVER.

Contessa said...

@JelliDonut: I'm hoping that the thing I want to do for the video works. I probably should've double-checked on that before mentioning it. Oh well. ;)
The funny thing is, I bother to put things away so rarely -- mostly because it feels like bailing out a sinking cruise ship with a thimble. . .

I second venividivoom's "ooh, a video reveal!" sentiment. :D Especially because that yarn looks so shiny and intriguing.

Sorry about the bad night/morning, I hope your Thursday is off to a better start.

As for things that impede my WIPs, a lot of the time it's the boring old "NOT ENOUGH TIME IN THE DAY" thing. A lot of the time I end up having to choose between cooking something interesting or getting more crafting done and eating leftovers, and recently the cooking has been winning! I also get stalled on stuff when there's too much sewing to be done, or extra pieces to be made out of polymer clay...I love crocheting, but sometimes the other parts of the project-making process make me hit the pause button on stuff.

The coverup looks good! Excited to see it finished. Also, looking forward to your FO! A video! WOW!

@Kathleen: I'm going to attempt getting the video done today. *deep breath* Cross your fingers it actually works. . .
So far today has been off to a much better start. Last night was better, too. (I take comfort in knowing that bad nights for Contini can, at most, come in pairs.)
I don't blame you for slowing down. Eating is important (*mumble*I guess*mutter*) and sometimes it's nice to take a little breather from projects.
The sewing portion of my projects always halts my progress, too. I'm trying to change that but it's been a rather arduous process.

I miss seeing you update your blog. Have you given any thought to the Dragon Crochet-Along? :)

@Tami: Thank you!!! I've been trying very hard to make progress on that stupid top. I'm determined to get it done in the next couple weeks (so then I can bemoan the process of getting an awesome FO photograph). ;)
Here's to hoping the video goes off without a hitch. I didn't expect there would be so much interest in it!

Popped back in to tell you the red lace scarf is a drop stitch so it's pretty straight forward, I'm not having trouble with it, and I really don't do real difficult things....I'm working up to more complicated things, s l o w l y.
